‘Reports about renewal of old vehicle documents baseless’

SRINAGAR — Transport authorities on Thursday outrightly refuted the news reports about the renewal of old vehicle documents of 15 years old vehicles without any documentation and termed it as baseless.

A top official of Transport department Kashmir said that the news reports that went viral on social networking sites are completely baseless, adding that we have only given extension to such vehicles, sometimes five years or sometimes 10 and after such vehicles were proved disastrous for environmental stability, and the process will continue in future also.

Earlier, news reports went viral wherein it was stated that no documents of 15 years old vehicles will be renewed, saying special teams have been given the task to look into the matter and act accordingly.

Officials appealed people not to pay heed to rumors and repose a good faith on authorities.
