SRINAGAR — Police on Sunday said that 12 bore rifle and some suspected 50 grams of gunpowder was recovered from the house of a labourer during a cordon-and-search-operation at Nagbal Machama area of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A senior police officer said that police along with Army’s 42 RR and 180 battalion CRPF launched a joint CASO at the house of one Mohammad Amin Malik, “labourer by profession and a former militant (2004)”.
“During search, one binocular, one 12 bore rifle (unlicensed), 10 rounds of the rifle and suspected explosive materials (gunpowder, approximately 50 grams), one kilogram bleaching powder like substance and iron/steal ball bearings (approximately 250 – 300 grams) besides combat pouch and weapon sling was retrieved,” he said.
The officer further said that a case has been registered and investigation taken up in this connection.
