SOPORE — A family in Sopore town of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Monday rejected the joining into militancy ranks of their son whose gun-wielding picture has surfaced on social media.
According to the family, the youth Sadat Amin Malik son of Mohammad Amin Malik, a resident of Krankshivan Colony Sopore, is pursuing Engineering in Pakistan.
The family members questioned the authenticity of the picture, asserting that they are still in contact with him in Pakistan.
On Sunday evening, his gun-wielding picture surfaced on social media — the trend Kashmiri youth follow to announce their joining into militant ranks.
Meanwhile, SSP Sopore – Javeed Iqbal, when contacted, said that soon after the picture went viral on social media, a team of police visited his home, news agency GNS reported.
However, he said, the family informed that their son is pursuing education in Pakistan. The SSP said that police was verifying the facts and in this regard, further investigation is underway. (GNS)
