Baramulla: Three militants were killed in Binnar area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.

Official sources said that Binnar village was cordoned off after government forces received inputs about the presence of militants in the area. The militants fired upon the forces personnel when they started the search operation.

SSP Baramulla, Mir Imtiyaz Hussain said that the gunfight ended with the killing of three militants whose identity is being ascertained.

“We have retrieved all the three bodies of the militants,” he said adding that prima facie it seems that all the three militants belong to Lashkar-e-Toiba.

Unofficial sources identified the three slain militants as Abu Maaz, Abu Hamzah and Shoaib Ahmed. “Among the three, two are non-locals,” sources said.

Meanwhile, internet service has been suspended in parts of the district.
