Toll two in Khrew as another militant killed

PULWAMA — Two militants have been killed in an ongoing encounter between government forces and militants in Shaar Shali village of Khrew area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A senior police official said that two militants have been killed, adding that the operation is still on in the area.

He said that the operation which was halted during night, resumed on Wednesday morning after evacuation of all civilians to safer places.

Earlier, an official said that on specific inputs about the presence of militants, a cordon and search operation was launched in the area by joint team of forces including 50 RR, CRPF and Awantipora Police.

As forces zeroed in towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon forces which was retaliated, triggering an encounter, he said.
