PULWAMA — The people of Dar Ganie Gund village of Tral in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district suffer due to a lack of transport facilities.

The residents in Aripal hamlet of Tral said there is no proper transport facility in the village. “People hailing from villages of upper reaches of Tral have separate Sumo service but only this village has become a victim of government’s negligence,” they said, adding, “We demand separate Sumo service for the village.”

The residents said they have to hire “expensive” private transport facilities in case of emergencies. “At times, we have to wait for more than two hours for a Sumo to just travel to a few kilometres,” they said.

“We have already apprised the concerned authorities about our grievances but to no avail,” said Tariq Ahmad Najar, a local.

He said due to lack of transport facilities, the students and the women are the worst hit. “Many times, our children miss classes,” he added.

Ghulam Nabi Lone, Lumberdar of the village, said, “The authorities are fully aware of the problems we face but they don’t care.”

The residents have requested the authorities to address their grievances and “do the needful” by allotting separate Sumo services for the village.
