Tricenarian commits suicide in Kulgam

KULGAM — A 36-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself outside his home at Devsar in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.

Official sources said that one Shabir Ahmad Itoo (36) son of Abdul Razaq Itoo of Guddar, Devsar, hanged himself from a tree near his house today morning.

The family members of the man, after spotting him hanging from a tree, immediately rushed him to the DH Kulgam where doctors declared him brought dead.

Shabir was working as a labourer and it was not immediately known as to why he took this extreme step, the official said.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case under 174 CrPc and taken up further investigations in this regard, the official added.
