Government forces during a gunfight in south Kashmir

SRINAGAR — Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed on Wednesday in an encounter at Nowpora Mir Bazaar area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

A top police officer, according to news agency GNS, said that two militants belonging to LeT outfit have been killed by security forces. “Identity of the slain and other details will be shared later,” the officer added.

Earlier, reports said that a joint team of J&K Police and the Indian Army launched a cordon and search operation in the Mir Bazaar area.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.
