Two police officers dead in road mishap on Srinagar outskirts

SRINAGAR — Two Police Sub-Inspectors (PSIs) of the Indian Reserve Police (IRP) lost their lives in a road accident during late-night hours on the Taingan–Lasjan Bypass along NH-44.

Police sources said the vehicle they were travelling in met with a severe crash, resulting in fatal injuries to two officers on the spot, while another officer, Mastan Singh, sustained injuries.

The deceased police sub-inspectors have been identified as Sachin Verma and Shubham.

Reports said the trio were on their way to Jammu from Srinagar after performing the Amarnath pilgrimage duty.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the mishap.
