Pulwama: Two policemen were killed and another critically injured after militants attacked a police post guarding the new District Court Complex in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
Official sources told GNS that a group of militants opened fire upon the police post resulting in on spot death of two security guards and injury to another at Takiya Wagam opposite to Government Degree College Pulwama near Barpora Kareemabad.
The deceased cops have been identified as Selection Grade Constables Ghulam Rasool and Ghulam Hassan. The injured cop Manzoor Ahmad has been shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment, they said.
The militants after carrying out the deadly attack decamped with two service rifles from the slain cops, they said.
Pertinently, the militant attack took place during the intervening night of 11th-12th June, observed as Laylat-ul-Qadr in the valley.
SSP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam Choudhary told GNS that two cops were killed and another suffered injuries.
The whole area around District Court Complex Pulwama is being cordoned off by the government forces and search operation is on.
Earlier, suspected militants attacked a CRPF camp in Anantnag with a grenade. Eleven troopers were injured in the attack.
The injured CRPF men have been identified as Panda Ram s/o Umbar Ram, Boota Singh s/o Roop Singh, Subash s/o Kadhi Nath, Vijay Kumar s/o Sri Doma, Narveer Singh s/o Sri Ram, Jeet Ram s/o Bari Singh, Manbinder s/o Tarapato, Ramdan s/o Narajan, Hari Shankar s/o Janardan, Porna Chandra s/o Lakhraman and Ajaz Ahmad s/o Mohammad Ramzan (stone injury), the sources added.
