SRINAGAR — A woman sustained injuries following a bear attack in the Magam Handwara area of northern Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday evening, officials reported.

According to an official quoted by a local news agency, the victim has been identified as Gulshana Begum, aged 50, the wife of Jamal Ahmad Mochi, a resident of Magam.

Reports indicate that Gulshana Begum was attacked and mauled by a bear while in the vicinity of Magam Handwara.

Emergency responders were alerted to the scene, and the injured woman was promptly transported to the District Hospital Handwara for medical treatment. The severity of Gulshana Begum’s injuries was not immediately disclosed.

Authorities have initiated further proceedings to address the incident, though specific details regarding the nature of these actions were not provided.
