Young author Aaqib Shaheen debuts with 'Woh Jo Khawab Hi Raha'

PULWAMA — The book ‘Woh Jo Khawab Hi Raha’ by young and budding author Aaqib Shaheen was on Sunday released at Government Degree College for Women Pulwama during a literary event.

The literary programme was held by a literary organization ‘Kalam Karwaan Sahoora’ in collaboration with The Kashmir Pulse.

The debut novel by Aaqib Shaheen Mir, a young poet, author and speaker from Litter village of Pulwama district, depicts the pain and sufferings prevailing in ‘the valley of saints’. The book is now available on Amazon and local bookshops as well.

Speaking about his book published with Walur Publishing House, Aaqib Shaheen said that behind his achievement are the prayers of his mother and heartfelt love of ‘a very close friend’.

Meanwhile, the event drew a big audience, and young talent was recognised during the proceedings as well. The speakers brilliantly emphasised the significance of youth in unfurling Iqbaliyat, while spellbinding poetry treated the audience.

Several dignitaries including Dr Reyaz Tawheedi, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Ganie (Coordinator, Iqbal Institute, University of Kashmir), Dr Nusrat Jabeen (Assistant Professor, Central University of Kashmir), Dr Nazir Azad (writer and poet), Raja Yousuf (Afsana Nigaar), besides students and people from various walks of life participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Nazir Azad congratulated the author, and said, “I am so pleased that a young boy like Aaqib not only has the courage to defy his demons, but also has the skill to compose his perspective of the sufferings of people in Kashmir and weave them into such a novel book.”

It’s worth noting that a number of senior journalists showed interest in covering the event.
