SRINAGAR — A youth who was held after the attack in Barzulla area of Srinagar has been released, sources said.
Two policemen were killed in Barzulla after a militant, donning Pheran, resorted to indiscriminate firing on the cops who were buying food stuff from a shop.
Shortly after the attack, a cordon and search operation was launched while a youth identified as Mudasir Ahmed from Old Chanapora was apprehended by the police.
The family of the youth had claimed that he is innocent and suffering from acute depression. “He had gone to Barzulla to offer Friday prayers. He is innocent,” her relative had told reporters.
IGP Vijay Kumar told media that he has not been held but is being questioned only.
Police sources said that the youth Mudasir Ahmed was questioned about the attack but he turned out innocent and was subsequently released from the custody.
