Srinagar: Few youth were injured after Army allegedly fired upon a group of ‘stone pelting’ protesters in Hawoora area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Sources said that an Army patrol from 1st Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army were pelted with stones at Hawoora Redwani area of the district.

Witnesses said that Army retaliated and fired a volley of rounds resulting in the injuries to a couple of youth, who have been hospitalized.

A youth identified as Shakir Ahmed Khanday has suffered critical injuries.

Police sources while confirming the incident said that a group of youth pelted stones on Army patrol. They said injured youth are stable.
