Srinagar: Jammu Kashmir Services Selection Board has announced JKSSB Recruitment 2017 for 1289 Posts in Education Department.
The much-awaited detailed Notification (JKSSB Advertisement Notification No. 02 of 2017) for jobs in School Education Department was announced.
Pertinently, the recruitment doesn’t include Teacher Posts which are expected to be advertised in November-December, 2017. Although JKSSB Chairman has confirmed that Teacher posts will be advertised soon as Letter Forwarding the posts was not complete.
School Education Department has referred the posts to JKSSB but it has not yet decided on the Selection Process which is believed to cause the delay in the JKSSB Teacher Recruitment.
It is important to mention here that this JKSSB Recruitment Notification comes with change in the Recruitment Rules and as such, these Posts will be filled up with the New Selection Rules, which are as follows:
1) There will be No Interview for these posts. Finally, JKSSB decided to do away with the Interviews for Non-Gazetted posts in J&K.
2) Written Exams will be held through Computer Based Online mode.
3) There will be Negative marking in the JKSSB Written Exam. In case of an incorrect answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted.
Apart from this, JKSSB has made the application process completely online. Now, Payment of Application Fee can be made Online through Net Banking / Credit Cards / Debit Cards etc.
A total of 1289 Posts have been announced under this recruitment for Non-Teaching Jobs.

Important Dates:

2) Application Forms can be submitted from 18th October, 2017.
3) Last Date of Online Application is 11th November, 2017.
4) Computer Based Objective Type Written Exam will be held in February/March, 2018.
Eligibility Criteria: Applicants willing to apply for these jobs in School Education Department should fulfill the below mentioned eligibility conditions:
1) Junior Assistant: Applicants willing to apply for Junior Assistant jobs, must fullfill the below mentioned eligibility conditions.
i) The applicant should be a Graduate, having knowledge of Type Writing with speed not less than 35 Words Per Minute.
ii) Applicant should have completed Six Months Certificate Course in Computer from a recognized Institute in J&K.
iii) Applicants who have done their Degrees in BCA, BCS and BCM, B.E / B Tech (Computer / IT), MCA, MCM, B Sc. (IT), M Sc. (IT), M.E / M Tech (Computer / IT) do not need a Computer Certificate.
2) Laboratory Assistant: Applicant should have completed 10+2 in Science Subjects from any recognized Board / University in India.
3) Library Assistant: Applicant should have completed Degree in Library Science (B.Lib) from a recognized University in India.
4) Junior Librarian: Applicant should have Degree in Library Science from a recognized University of India.
Update: On 21st October 2017, JKSSB released a Corrigendum, with an addendum to the Eligibility Criteria of Library Assistant and Junior Librarian posts. As per the Notification, candidates having Masters Degree in Library and Information Science (M.LIS) after Graduation are also eligible to apply for the said posts.
Selection Process: The Selection Process for the Recruitment of above mentioned posts in School Education Department comprises of Skill Test and Written Test only. There will be no interviews.
The Post-wise Selection Criteria for various posts announced by School Education Department is as follows:
1) Junior Assistant: Selection Process for the Recruitment of Junior Assistants in School Education Department comprises of Merit obtained in the Type Test, followed by Written Exam.
i) Type Test: All those candidates, who apply for Junior Assistants will have to appear in the Type Test and only those candidates who obtain Type Speed of 35 WPM with 90% accuracy will be eligible for selection.
ii) Written Test: All those candidates who pass the Type Test will be shortlisted for Written Test that comprises of Computer Based Test (Online) having Objective Type Questions.
Final Merit is based on the candidates’ performance in the Type Test and Written Exam taken together.
Type Test: 60 Points
Written Test: 40 Points
2) Laboratory Assistant: Selection process for Laboratory Assistant posts in School Education Department comprises of Merit based on Written Test only. There shall be No Interview for Laboratory Assistant posts. Selection is entirely based on Marks obtained in the Written Test.
3) Library Assistant and Junior Librarian: Selection Process for Library Assistant and Junior Librarian comprises of Objective Type Computer-Based Written Test only. There will be No Interview for these Posts. There will also be a penalty of 0.25 Marks for every incorrect answer.

Applicants should note that JKSSB accepts applications through online mode only. No other means or mode of application is accepted. The Online Registration for these JKSSB Exams starts from 18th of October, 2017.
Applicants should note that Online Forms are to be filled only at the newly launched JKSSB Online Portal (www.ssbjk.in). Prior to submitting the Online form, candidate must have an Account with the JKSSB Online Application Portal. Non-Registered candidates can not submit the application form.
