After the conclusion of the G20 meeting in Kashmir, what is next store for us? As we all know it was a tourism-related meeting. In other words, it was all about services or the hospitality sector. The delegates had an opportunity to explore the tourism potential of the Valley and took the fond memories of the place back to their countries.

Many unexplored areas were touched upon and investing in as many as diverse areas were agreed upon. Overall, the meeting was held peacefully and the world came to know about the diversity of the region in every respect. Kashmir got an infrastructure boost and an amiable atmosphere of cordiality and peace. However, the question of utmost importance is what is in store for us in the future.

The first is real international recognition. This summit has made it clear that Kashmir is a place to explore in the future. Owing to prevailing myths, Kashmir was the place to be dreaded. However, the G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting has demystified the myths. Now, it is the responsibility of these delegates to visit this place as much as they can so that it does not again recede into oblivion.

The second is political correctness. The international delegates have come to know that though there are different voices prevailing in the Valley, the common threads of cooperation and coexistence are running in the nook and corner of the Valley. Any political issue can be sorted out, provided the intentions are pious.

The third is the geo-strategic location of Kashmir. Kashmir is strategically located on the international routes. The G20 Summit can act as a catalyst in utilizing this importance for the development of the region and the world as well. This place has the potential to cater to the needs of many people and act as a zone of diplomatic reconstruction.

The fourth is avoiding misunderstandings. It is the most urgent need of the hour. Misunderstandings hurt everybody’s cause. The same is the case with Kashmir. To present the picture as it is, everybody has to abstain from making wild guesses. It hurts the cause of everyone in the long run. Those who were in the dark about Kashmir, when get an opportunity to visit it, they are shocked. They see a clear difference between falsehood and reality. Foreign delegates should visit this place regularly and talk to the Kashmiris to sift truth from falsehood.

At last, I am thankful to the Prime Minister of India for choosing Kashmir as one of the cities for hosting the G20 Summit. His Excellency has been trying his best to set things right in Kashmir. Both the government and the public can join hands in uplifting Kashmir to newer heights.

I request the Prime Minister of India to host as many as progressive meetings here. It will leave a long-lasting impact on all the sectors of the economy of Kashmir. Moreover, the psyches of the Kashmiris will go through a visible change. Let us welcome development and abhor violence. Overall, the future is common to all of us.
