BANDIPORA — The rebel Congress leader and former legislator from Bandipora Assembly constituency, Usman Majid on Sunday held the first workers convention post abrogation of Article 370 on August 05 last year and said that Kashmir is an integral part of India and nobody can separate it.

During the convention, Majid also stated that a new political party will be floated in Jammu and Kashmir very soon.

Majid who addressed first convention after over six months in Bandipora today said that the regional parties including National Conference and People’s Democratic Party misled people here over self-rule and autonomy, saying that people in Kashmir are suffering because of their misdeeds.

He also lashed out at Congress, saying that it is because of this party also that the people of Kashmir have been suffering from last 70 years. During the convention, he said that Kashmir was an integral part of India.

“We cannot take away Pakistan administered Kashmir (PaK) from Pakistan. Similarly, no one can separate our Kashmir from India, it is integral part of the country.

Majid, while responding to a query, told media persons that a new party will be formed in Jammu and Kashmir very soon for which the like-minded have already joined hands.

“The party which is being floated is not backed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Linking our new party with BJP is baseless,” he said.

Pertinently, the former legislator resigned from the Congress party, saying that the formal resignation letter to the party will be sent by tomorrow.

Usman is one among nearly two dozen leaders who have joined hands to structure a new political podium in Jammu and Kashmir, which would likely be formed in the first week of March. Majid announced his resignation during the convention today.

Majid said that he will send a resignation letter to the party tomorrow, saying that this party is behind the sufferings of Kashmir people. “It’s because of this party that people have been suffering here from last seven decades, ” he added.

Majid had hinted parting ways with the Congress earlier this month when he removed the party identity from his official Twitter handle.
