First batch of Hajj pilgrims to return on October 11

SRINAGAR — The first batch of Hajj pilgrims from Jammu and Kashmir are expected to arrive at Srinagar airport on October 11, Saturday, for which the government has reportedly finalised all required arrangements.

In this regard, the Additional Commissioner Kashmir, Salma Hamid, convened a meeting of Divisional Officers to ensure adequate arrangements to facilitate their arrival and subsequent smooth journey to their destinations.

During the deliberations, the Additional Commissioner directed the officers that adequate facilities, including providing accommodation, boarding and lodging, uninterrupted electricity, safe drinking water, sanitation in and around the Hajj House and better transport facilities from the Airport to the Hajj House and to their destinations, should be provided to all Hajj pilgrims at the Airport, including those from Jammu and Ladakh regions.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Budgam, Manzoor Ahmad Lone; Director, Airport Authority; Joint Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Bashir Ahmad Khan; Joint Director Information, Kashmir, Shafqat Iqbal; Senior Superintendent of Police, Budgam; Hajj Officer Srinagar; representative of the Police Department and other officers.
