Celkon, Intex to join the Google Android One program

Mumbai: Google had announced the Android One program to help choose the hardware and deliver stock Android experience for the sub Rs 6,000 smartphone. Also, Google had announced that the Android One program has Micromax, Karbonn and Spice mobiles on-board as partners. Now Google is in talks with Celkon and Intex Technologies to join the Android One program reported ET.
Google has already signed Celkon Mobiles for the Android One program and the talks with Intex Technologies are in process. With Android One, we are planning to introduce devices that are 20-30% cheaper than earlier products, said Murali Retineni, Executive Director, Celkon Technologies who informed ET that Celkon is planning to introduce Android One devices by Diwali this year. Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, business head of Intex Technologies, stated, that Intex is in talks with Google for the Android One initiative.
Celkon is the fourth Indian company to join the Android One Program and the Intex Technologies would be fifth one. The Android One initiative basically involves Google Android software engineers to choose a hardware that can run the stock Android experience without hiccups. An ideal configuration might include a dual-SIM device, 4-inch or higher display, removable memory card and rear camera.
