NEW DELHI — Xiaomi just introduced two new smartphones of the Redmi Note 7 series in India. Launched minutes ago on stage in India, the new Redmi Note 7 & Redmi Note 7 Pro have been revealed at an unbelievable price.

Redmi Note 7 Pro

As far as Redmi Note 7 Pro is concerned, it packs a Snapdragon 675 processor, USB-C port, new colours and other improvements.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro looks very similar to the Redmi Note 7; the phone is available in Space Black, Nebula Red, and Neptune Blue, and all three feature subtle gradient finishes. One welcome outward change is the use of a USB-C connector for the first time.

Inside, the Snapdragon 660 from the Redmi Note 7 has been replaced with a beefier Snapdragon 675, featuring the Kryo 460 processor. The processor is coupled with up to 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage, which is a first for the Redmi Note family.

Out of the box, the Redmi Note 7 Pro will be running MIUI 10, based on Android 9 Pie.

The highlight of Redmi Note 7 Pro is its dual camera setup with a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor coupled with a 5MP secondary sensor. Using pixel binning, this sensor combines images from four adjacent pixels into one, capturing more information about the scene. This setup enables the Redmi Note 7 Pro to take improved low-light pictures but also get great zoom.

Redmi Note 7 Pro has a studio lighting mode live option as well. The feature will show what studio lighting effect will look like when you take the phone in this mode. It also has 4K recording at 30fps and EIS.

The phone also has AI scene detection, Portrait Mode 2.0 and a Night Mode as well.

The smartphone comes with a 13MP AI front camera. Studio lighting selfie mode will be added later via an OTA update.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of RAM will cost 13,999 rupees. The variant with 6GB and 128GB of RAM will cost 16,999 rupees. That compares very favourable with competing devices like the Honor View 20 or the Samsung Galaxy M20.

Redmi Note 7

Earlier during the official launch event today, Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 was also launched in India. Redmi Note 7 has been launched without 48MP camera in India instead it will have 12MP+2MP camera setup at the back. The 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor is absent in India variant as seen in the China variant. The front-facing 13MP isn’t as exciting but gets the job done well enough and is contained within the display’s small waterdrop notch.

The design of the Redmi Note 7 isn’t too different from other phones on the market. It’s made of typical glass sandwich design but it does come in with some really eye-catching gradient colors.

The display on the front is 6.3-inch HD+ LCD, 1080 x 2340 resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It’s not going to have the deep blacks of an AMOLED, but this is far from a bad panel — especially for the price.

The Redmi Note 7 is powered by a Snapdragon 660 chipset, which is pretty powerful for a budget device. The Note 7 will be offered in multiple storage/RAM configurations in India including 3GB/32GB and 4GB/64GB.

Other specs include a 4,000mAh battery, USB Type-C connectivity, 18 watt wired charging, an IR blaster, and a headphone jack.

Redmi Note 7 will be available in Blue, Black and Red colour options in India. Both Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro are splash proof.

Xiaomi has a history for packing solid specs into an affordable package and the Redmi Note 7 is no exception. The phone has been launched with a starting price of 9,999 rupees for the base variant while for the higher RAM and storage, the price is 11,999 rupees.

The first sale of Redmi Note 7 will commence on March 6 through Flipkart in India.
