
SRINAGAR — Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has congratulated Jammu and Kashmir para archer Sheetal Devi on winning the gold medal in the Women’s Compound Individual Event at Stage III of the 2026 Hyundai World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad.
Sheetal defeated Kazakhstan’s Aizada Seidan in a shoot-off after the two archers were tied 144-144 at the end of regulation. Sheetal secured victory with a perfect 10 in the deciding shot.
She also won a bronze medal in the Compound Mixed Team Event alongside Toman Kumar. The pair defeated Iraq’s Sara Al-Hamid and Abbas Kadhim 157-145 in the bronze-medal match.
Omar Abdullah said Sheetal’s achievement was a proud moment for the entire nation and wished her continued success in her future endeavours.
The 19-year-old archer from Kishtwar district is the reigning world champion and has also been ranked world No. 1 in women’s compound para archery.
