PULWAMA — Even after four years, the indoor sports stadium at Rajpora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama, is awaiting completion, leaving sports lovers dejected.
Players from different villages of the area said that they were hopeful that by enhancing the sports infrastructure in the area, youth will get engaged in different sports activities and will remain away from drugs. However, even after four years, the project seems nowhere near completion.
They said since the beginning, the construction work is going at snail’s pace due to which sports lovers besides players are discouraged.
“The project was given a deadline of two years, however, four years have now passed but the project is yet to get completed,” said Aadil Ahmad, a local resident.
Locals said that they have brought up the issue with the concerned authorities but to no avail.
Pertinently, the project is being executed by JKPCC with an estimated cost of Rs 4 crore.
Deputy General Manager, JKPCC Pulwama, Er Masood Ahmad Gagoo, said that around 80 per cent of the work is complete, and the work is going on in full swing.
“Due to the situation after August 05 followed COVID lockdown, the project got delayed but hopefully, it will be completed by the end of this year,” he said.
