Anantnag: Journalists today protested on arrival of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti at South Kashmir’s Khanabal area after being disallowed to cover the event. The protest was against Chief Minister’s media adviser, Suhail Bukhari.

Authorities did not allow media persons of Anantanag district to cover a function in Dakbanglow Anantnag. A large posse of police and paramilitary forces was deployed outside Dakbanglow. They stopped media persons from covering the function in Anantanag.

Journalists said that they tried to enter the premises of Dakbanglow Anantanag in South Kashmir to cover the event but security personnel deployed there told them that they were not allowed to cover the event.

A police officer told journalists no one would be allowed towards Dakbanglow to cover the function. Anantnag Working Journalists (AWJ) strongly condemned the media gag by the authorities.

Later, most of the journalists working for different media outlets left the spot in protest and decided to boycott the functions of the district administration in future.

However, they were given the permission to cover the event soon after.
