Srinagar: India Today’s so called ‘Exclusive Story’ on the rising incidents of stone pelting near encounter sites titled “Stone Pelters on Hire in Kashmir: India Today nails Valley’s insidious villains” has been exposed as part of an elaborate hoax.
The programme was telecasted during the Prime Time slot by the channel’s anchor Rahul Kanwal.
One of the youth filmed as a stone pelter in the video has taken to social media to clarify his presence as well as the statements made.
The youth, Javaid Ahmad, has circulated a video in which he exposes Rahul Kanwal’s sensational and false reportage on Kashmir’s youth.
“A man, Muzafar Matoo from Baramulla called to inform me that some NGO has come to his home and asked me to get documents of pellet victims in our locality”, reveals the youth.
“I called few of my friends and told them that we are leaving for Muzafar Matoo’s home as we have to provide him the documents. As we reached Matoo’s house, we handed him the documents”, he continues.
“Two persons were sitting there along with Matoo. Muzamil introduced them as being from an NGO”, he further reveals.
“As we began to leave, Matoo stopped us while asking us to answer some questions of the duo, misled from being an NGO. We didn’t agree but we were threatened to answer their absurd questions even”, he adds.
The youth says that they are ordinary students as they do not relate to any party or organisation. “We are being framed and our career is being spoiled”, he appeals.
The video is being widely circulated on social media sites and WhatsApp groups by the Kashmiri netizens in their attempt to counter the ‘wrong’ narrative.
