Srinagar: Unruly scenes were witnessed at SKICC Srinagar during an event for interaction of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti with Self Help Groups (SHG) on Tuesday.

The event was organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKSRLM) in which around 15,000 women had come to participate, reported Kashmir Monitor.

Eyewitness said as the CM arrived at the podium and was patiently listening to the success stories of Self Help Groups; scores of women stood up and started raising pro-freedom slogans. Following which, other women also took part in the sloganeering creating chaos.

“CM stayed for some time but when situation turned worse, she was taken inside the SKICC. But few of the protestors vandalized the stage and threw chairs all over,” said one of the eyewitness.

Several protesters were complaining that they were misled by the authorities. “We were told that we will be given free gas connections and training at Bakshi Stadium Srinagar but were brought here to participate in this event,” elderly women from Khansahib, Budgam said.
