CBSE exam calendar derailed by regional security crisis in West Asia

DELHI — The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has postponed the Class X and Class XII board examinations scheduled for March 5 and March 6, 2026, in select Middle East countries in view of the prevailing security situation.

According to an official circular issued by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the decision affects examination centres in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The board stated that the examinations slated for Thursday, March 5 and Friday, March 6 stand postponed for both Class X and Class XII. The revised dates will be announced at a later stage.

The circular further mentioned that the situation will be reviewed again on March 5, and appropriate decisions will be taken regarding examinations scheduled from March 7 onwards.

Students have been advised to remain in close contact with their respective schools and to follow official announcements for further updates.

The notification has been issued under the authority of the Controller of Examinations, with copies marked to Indian missions in the concerned countries as well as CBSE’s regional office in Dubai.
