BARAMULLA — Police in Baramulla have attached property worth over ₹69 lakh and obtained an arrest warrant against an accused in a 2008 militancy-related case, officials said on Sunday.
The attachment order was issued by the special NIA court in Sopore in connection with a case registered at Police Station Chandoosa under various sections, including the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Enemy Agents Ordinance, a police spokesperson said.
The attached property — land measuring 12 kanal, one marla and 73 square feet — belongs to accused Parvaiz Ahmad Famda, a resident of Kawhar Bala in Chandoosa. The land has been valued at ₹69,82,550, for which a valuation certificate has also been obtained, the spokesperson said.
In a related development, the court also issued an arrest warrant against another accused, Abdul Rashid Bhat, a resident of Rajpora, Chandoosa, in the same case.
The action is part of the ongoing crackdown against individuals involved in unlawful and anti-national activities, the spokesperson said, adding that police are committed to pursuing such cases to their logical conclusion in accordance with the law.
Further investigations are underway, the police spokesperson said.
