Srinagar: As rumors regarding Jio Happy New Year offer continue to create headlines in various sections of news media, we decided to get the facts right.
We have confirmed it from Reliance Jio that Happy New Year Offer for Jio subscribers is expiring today without any further extension in the free services.
However, users can take advantage of huge 4G data offers by getting Jio Prime Membership with a recharge of Rs. 99.
Our previous story on How to upgrade to Jio Prime Membership for Free will help you save some bucks for future recharges!
We have tried to explain the cost-effective way for Jio Prime Membership registration in the previous story concerning the telecom operator.
Some of our queries were, however, not fully answered by Reliance Jio’s customer care executives. Following queries have been listed after getting answers:
Aasif Ganaie: Hello! Actually, I’m calling from a news portal. I would like to get answers for a few questions that the subscribers are asking us.
Customer Care: You have a Postpaid Sim right now?
Aasif Ganaie: Yes, I have also recharged with (Rs.) 99.
Customer Care: Postpaid plans are currently not available for Jammu & Kashmir Postpaid customers.
Aasif Ganaie: Is Jio Happy New Year offer expiring today?
Customer Care: Exactly, the Happy New Year offer will be expiring today and then, henceforth, your Jio Prime Membership starts.
Aasif Ganaie: Is there any difference in recharge packs for Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers?
Customer Care: There is no difference between Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers. The only difference is that the billing cycle will be different. (Prepaid subscribers will have to recharge in advance to avail Jio services while the Postpaid subscribers will be billed at the end of each month).
Aasif Ganaie: Any special guidelines for J&K subscribers?
Customer Care: Right now, Prepaid sims are available (for your state), Prepaid recharges are available. The only thing is that Postpaid plans are currently not available for Jammu & Kashmir customers. There are no postpaid plans currently there.
Aasif Ganaie: Actually, I called a customer care recently and she said that Postpaid plans will be billed in advance in Jammu & Kashmir. Is that right?
Customer Care: Right now, like I told you, there are no Postpaid plans right now so I can not give you any wrong information. That will be a miscommunication between both of us.
Aasif Ganaie: Happy New Year offer is expiring today. So, what about the Postpaid subscribers of Jammu & Kashmir tommorrow? Will they be able to use the services?
Customer Care: They will be able to use the the services but right now, we are trying to work on that which is why I can not give you a resolution for now.
Aasif Ganaie: Does that mean the services will not be barred tommorrow?
Customer Care: No, your services won’t be barred tommorrow. Your sim won’t be disconnected or it won’t be closed. Your sim will be working!
It is pertinent to mention here that most of the subscribers in Jammu & Kashmir use Postpaid sim cards of the operator as the Prepaid services were barred in the state when the service was officially launched. It will be interesting to see what sort of plans will be provided for this particular subscriber base in the state!
