Fida Dot Com – One-stop shop internet cafe for students in Pulwama

Pulwama: Fida Dot Com, an internet cafe in Pulwama, has been providing services like online shopping, airline tickets, railway tickets and of course, internet browsing. Interestingly, the cafe is famous among the student community for its form-filling services.

Started in 2004, the cafe became a substitute for accomplishing almost all of the online tasks of the student community in and around the area.

Students frequently visit the cafe to get their Admission Forms, Examination Forms, Scholarship Forms et cetera filled by the two-member staff at Fida Dot Com. The cafe is run by Qamar-uz-Zaman and his cousin Danish, residents of Pathan area of Pulwama.

Whenever a new job recruitment is announced by JKSSB, JKPSC or any other recruitment board, job aspirants throng the cafe to make sure that their job applications are submitted bereft of any mistakes. “The trust that the student community of the area has shown is really heart-warming,” says Danish.

Danish, who is popular among local students and job/research aspirants, says, “We feel delighted to see students visiting us from as far as Awantipora, Pampore, Nagam, Keller and Shopian.”

“I was surprised to see students, studying at NIT Srinagar and Central University of Kashmir, submit their mess fee as well admission fee here at Fida Dot Com. They come all the way from Srinagar and make the payments here,” adds Danish with a smile on his face.

“The internet cafe has really been instrumental as far as informing about latest University Admissions is concerned. Life gets a lot easier when you sit with your documents while your forms are being filled at Fida Dot Com,” Mashkoor, a student from Pulwama, says with a smile on his face.

Although the cafe is popular among students, people belonging to various other professions also visit the cafe.

Ghulam Hassan, a shopkeeper in Pulwama, says, “Whenever there is something to be done on internet, Fida Dot Com is the only name that comes to my mind. From corrections in Aadhar Card to applying for Passport, I get everything done at the cafe.”

Medical Representatives from various pharma companies also visit the cafe to submit their daily sales reports to their respective companies. There are contractors also who task the staff at Fida Dot Com to fill online Tenders on their behalf.

Also, journalists working with various newspapers and online news portals flock the cafe whenever there is mobile internet gag in place. “Authorities have become habitual of banning internet. Our profession is totally dependent on this. Thankfully, we have Fida Dot Com here!” says Showkat Dar, who works with a local Daily.

Besides these services, a Notification Board has also been placed in the cafe. This Notification Board houses latest Admission Notifications and Job Advertisements issued by various Universities and recruitment agencies.

A Facebook Page is also operated to update the aspirants in the comfort of their homes. Danish goes a step further as he replies to the queries of students/aspirants on this Page.

The cafe has also come up with its website that will be updated with the latest information regarding various jobs in differnt departments and admissions in various colleges and Universities.
