SRINAGAR — A day after the government issued a directive to close down coaching centres in wake of the ‘rising’ COVID-19 cases, students on Monday alleged that axe first falls on the education sector while the rest of the sectors are not touched.
Students who staged a silent protest at Press Club of Kashmir raised eyebrows over the latest government directive to close down coaching centres in Kashmir capital Srinagar. They asked many questions, alleging that the education sector is being targeted without any reason and rhyme.
“Wasn’t there Covid when New Year celebrations were allowed in Gulmarg? What is the fun of the lockdown when all the students have already been vaccinated and coaching centres are following Covid related protocols?” the students questioned.
They, as per news agency Kashmir News Trust, said that they are aghast over the latest government Circular and are unable to comprehend why the education sector is being derailed. They said one can’t rely on the internet in Kashmir due to an uncertain situation.
“Closure of coaching centres have caused anxiety among students and they have gone into depression,” they said and appealed to the government to let coaching centres function in off-line mode.
