Seven killed, two injured in road mishap in Rajouri

RAJOURI — Seven persons were dead and two others got injured in a road accident at Kewal Morh area of Rajouri district.

Sources said that the accident took place during evening hours of Sunday when a Tempo bearing registration number JK02AU 8910, on way to Reasi Chassana from Rajouri, plunged in a 600 feet deep gorge at Kewal Morh village.

A large number of locals and police team headed by SHO Budhal Sanjay Raina rushed to the spot and launched rescue operation to rescue the injured.

“Locals played important role in rescue operation and seven persons were removed and shifted to Kandi CHC in injured condition,” sources said.

Two passengers died on the spot in this mishap. “Later five more injured succumbed to injuries while two injured are under treatment in Rajouri hospital,” official sources said.

Deceased have been identified as Kulwant Singh son of Sukhdev Singh resident of Kangota Budhal, Mohammad Taj son of Mohammad Hussain resident of Topa Mendhar, Abdul Rashid son of Mohammad Iqbal resident of Darhal, Sunit Singh son of Chitar Singh resident of Tuli Reasi, his wife Kailash Devi resident of Tuli Reasi, Mohammad Manzoor son of Mohammad Din resident of Rajnagar Budhal, Mohammad Farooq son of Mohammad Rashid resident of Tuli Reasi.

“Two injured are under treatment in Rajouri hospital who have been identified as Mohammad Azam and Mohammad Shakeel,” sources said.
