SRINAGAR — The Central government on Monday proposed Rs 30,757 Crore grant for Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory for the next fiscal.
Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman made the allocation for the UT while presenting the Union budget for the coming fiscal.
The grant for Jammu and Kashmir is equal to last year’s transfers. This means that there is unlikely an increase in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budget, likely to be presented later this month in the Parliament.
J&K gets maiden gas pipeline project in Budget
The Union government on Monday announced the maiden gas pipeline project to be taken up in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The mega project will be part of the Union government’s plan to add 100 more districts of the country in the next three years to the City Gas Distribution Network, Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman while presenting the Union Budget-2021 in the Parliament, said.
The Finance Minister said an independent Gas Transport System Operator will be set up for “facilitation and coordination of booking of common carrier capacity in all natural gas pipelines on a non discriminatory open access basis”.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for announcing a new gas pipeline project for J&K.
