42 kg Charas recovered from a house in Anantnag

SRINAGAR — Police on Saturday said that 42 kg of Charas was recovered from a residential house at Bonpora, Tukhan in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

“On specific information, a Police Party headed by SDPO Bijbehara along with Executive Magistrate Bijbehara raided a residential house of Bilal Ahmad Dar at Bonpora, Tulkhan,” it said.

“During searches, officers were able to recover 42 kg of Charas powder concealed in two bags from the house,” a police spokesperson said in a statement. However, he said the accused person is at large and efforts are on to effect his arrest.

Accordingly, he said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation in the matter has been initiated.

“Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law,” he said.
