Amid COVID-19 threat, burglars steal chest at deserted Tral shrine

TRAL — Amid coronavirus crisis, burglars stole a cash filled chest of a shrine in Tral town of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Police sources said that burglars broke into the shrine of ‘Astan Mehmood Bukhari’ (RA) and stole a cash filled chest. The burglars, after stealing the chest, broke it into a nearby paddy field and fled away with the stolen cash.

A police official said that the broken chest was recovered from the field and a case in this regard was registered and investigation set into motion.

Pertinently, most of the shrines in Valley are deserted due to government enforced lockdown in wake of COVID-19 threat.
