AWANTIPORA — District administration in Awantipora launched a massive demolition drive in Kharmood Awantipora and its adjoining areas and dismantled illegal shops on roadsides.
The drive was launched two days after a notice was issued to the shopkeepers, asking them to vacate the shops at the earliest.
The shopkeepers have earlier expressed resentment against the authorities for issuing notice without any prior information; however, no attention was paid towards their pleas.
The drive continued for a full day, despite bad weather.
Earlier, a drive was launched on AIIMS road in Awantipora, in which 17 structures were demolished by the administration.
