
KUPWARA — Five soldiers who were killed in Keran encounter, in which five militants were also killed, have been identified by the Army.
The militants sneaked into this part of Kashmir and were trapped in Zurhama forest of Kupwara, Army spokesperson said.
“After four days of pursuing, all the five militants were neutralised while in the gunfight, soldiers too suffered injuries. Among the injured soldiers, five succumbed to their injuries,” Army said in a statement.
The slain soldiers have been identified as Subedar Sanjeev Kumar No. JC413798Y of Himachal Pradesh, Haveldar Davendra Singh No. 13625231Y of Uttarakhand, Para Trooper Bal Krishan No. 13633013P of Himachal Pradesh, Para Trooper Amit Kumar No. 4093303X of Uttarakhand and Chhatrapal Singh No. 1487156H of Rajasthan.
All dead bodies are lying at PCR Mortuary room for medico/legal formalities.
