GANDERBAL — An Army man allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Chatergul Army camp of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Tuesday.

Official sources said that the Army man of 24 RR Delta Company-D who was posted at Chatergul area of Ganderbal shot himself with his service rifle in the morning.

“Following the incident, the colleagues rushed towards the Army man and found him in a pool of blood,” they said, adding that the soldier was found dead on spot.

A senior police officer, while confirming the incident, identified the deceased Army man as Jagmeet Singh son of Makhan Singh, a resident of Haryana.

He said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered and further investigations have been taken up.
