Apple boxes in Kashmir

KULGAM — Burglars, on the intervening night of Sunday-Monday, stole 300 apple boxes from the orchards of Bogam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Reports reaching here said that the boxes had been stored in a shed owned by the local growers Mehraj-u-Din Khanday, Maqbool Bhat and Mushtaq Bhat of Bogam village. The cost of the apples stolen was over Rs 3 lakh.

Pertinently, several incidents of apple theft were also reported from the area and authorities are clueless to take any action against these burglars.

The thefts have alarmed the people of the area who have appealed the police authorities to nab the culprits at the earliest.
