PULWAMA — A Cordon and Search Operation launched by combined government forces in the middle of the night in Karimabad hamlet of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district is still in progress.

Official sources said that soldiers from 55 Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF personnel from 182 and 183 Battalions assisted by SOG men from Jammu Kashmir Police are conducting searches.

They said that Najar Mohalla, Astan Mohalla and Herpora of Karimabad are under siege while more reinforcement has been called in.

The forces have information about the presence of militants in these areas.

Sources added that door to door search operation is underway and all the entry and exit points of the village have been sealed.

Local sources said that huge contingents of forces have been deployed in these areas, however, no contact with militants has been established so far.
