SRINAGAR — J&K Police and other government forces have suspended the operation due to darkness in Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district where authorities snapped Internet on Wednesday.
Reports reaching here said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 3RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Kandipora area of Bijbehara amid specific information about the presence of at least two militants.
As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering off a gunfight which was suspended due to darkness on late night.
The officials said that all exit points have been sealed and lights have been installed to prevent militants from escaping as they have turned down the offer to surrender.
Inspector General of Police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar confirmed that the operation has been suspended and would be resumed tomorrow morning.
Meanwhile, local reports said that mobile Internet services have been snapped in the entire district.
