
SRINAGAR — After lengthy searches, finally a gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Beighpora area of Awantipora in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
Reports reaching here said that a joint team of Police, Army’s 55 RR and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Beighpora village during night hours.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
A senior police officer also confirmed about the exchange of firing between the forces and militants.
As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to be trapped.
Pertinently, this is second encounter in Awantipora in a span of eight hours.
