Gunfight starts in north Kashmir’s Palhallan

Srinagar: An encounter started between militants and government forces at Palhallan village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Friday morning.

Reports reaching us said that a heavy contingent of Army and SOG cordoned off the area today during wee hours.

A senior police officer meanwhile confirmed to news agency GNS that a joint team of Army’s 29 RR, SOG and 53 Bn CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Palhallan village following inputs about the presence of militants.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire triggering off a gunfight.

When reports last came in, the gunfight was going on. (GNS)
