Gunfights erupt in south Kashmir’s Tral and Kulgam

Pulwama: Two separate gunfights erupted between government forces and militants in south Kashmir’s Tral and Kulgam on Tuesday.

As per reports, a gunfight raged between militants and goverment forces in Redwani Bala area of Qaimoh in Kulgam district.

Sources said that a joint team of Army’s 1RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Redwani.

While the forces intensified searches towards a suspected house, the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering a gunfight.

A senior Police official said that contact has been established with the hiding militants after having credible input about presence of some militants in the area.

Sources said that two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

Reports said that mobile internet services were snapped in the district following the encounter.

Meanwhile, another gunfight broke out between militants and goverment forces in Reshipora area of Tral early this Tuesday morning.

Reports said that a joint team of Army’s 42RR, 180 BN CRPF and SOG cordoned off Reshipora.

As the joint team of forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.

As per sources, the house has caught fire where militants are trapped. The militants are believed to be members of Zakir Musa led group Ansar Ul Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

Earlier, government forces also launched Cordon and Search Operation in Putrigam area of Pulwama and Pinglish area of Tral in south Kashmir. (With GNS Inputs)
