Kokernag Gunfight: Teen receives bullet in head as clashes break out

Anantnag: A teenager has been critically wounded in Kokernag area here, where militants and government forces are engaged in a fierce gunbattle since wee hours today.

15-year-old Yawar Ahmad Chopan son of Abdul Majeed was injured after being hit by a bullet in his head in his village Gadole this morning, official sources said.

The injured teen has been removed to the Anantnag district hospital for treatment. His condition is said to be life-threatening.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted in Gadole and Vailoo villages when people, mostly youth, hit the streets and staged protest against the ongoing anti-militancy operation.

Angry youth pelted rocks at the government forces to register their anger against the CASO.
