Leopard attacks leave minor and three others injured in Shopian

SRINAGAR — A series of leopard strikes in separate locations within southern Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday evening resulted in injuries to four individuals, including a minor.

According to an official’s statement quoted by a local news agency, the incidents occurred in the areas of Daramdora Keegam and Mazhama, where four individuals fell victim to the leopard attacks.

The injured individuals have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Lone, son of Mohammad Ahsan Lone; Saadat Nazir (14), son of Nazir Ahmad Wani; Nazir Ahmad Wani, residents of Daramdora Keegam; and Sahil Hassan Rather, son of Ghulam Hassan Rather, a resident of Mazhama.

Efforts to aid the injured were promptly initiated, with all victims evacuated to District Hospital Pulwama for immediate medical attention. Subsequently, they were referred to SMHS Hospital Srinagar for specialized treatment.

Law enforcement authorities have acknowledged the incidents and have initiated an investigation into the matter.
