SRINAGAR — Wildlife authorities on Sunday captured a leopard in Koil village of Pulwama district in south Kashmir.

The department had been trying to capture the leopard since last week. The animal, according to locals, had killed many domestic animals.

A team of the Wildlife department captured the animal today morning, officials said. “We have received several complaints from the local residents about the presence of the leopard. The animal was on the prowl in Koil, Malangpora and its adjoining areas since last couple of weeks,” they said.

Confirming it, concerned Intisar Suhail, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) said that the leopard had killed many domestic animals in recent past. “We had laid a trap and met with success today as the animal was captured by our team at Koil Pulwama,” the DFO said.

He said that the animal after tranquilization would be moved to a wildlife sanctuary.
