Militant killed during gunfight in Shopian

SHOPIAN — A militant has been killed during an ongoing gunfight in Gadhapora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Official sources confirmed that one militant has been killed and exchange of fire is on.

Earlier, on specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area, a joint team of forces including 34 RR and SOG of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a search operation in Gadhapora Ratnipora area of Shopian.

On intensifying search operation towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon the forces which was retaliated, triggering an encounter.

Meanwhile, in wake of the gunfight, internet services have been snapped in Shopian. In other parts of south Kashmir, it has been reduced to 2G.
