Nocturnal gunfight breaks out in Kulgam

SRINAGAR — A nocturnal gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Nadimarg area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.

Reports reaching here said that on a specific input, a team of Kulgam Police along with 9RR of Army launched a cordon and search operation in Nadimarg. As the joint team of forces tightened the cordon over the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of firing between the two sides.

As per the sources, two to three militants are believed to trapped. Till this report was being filed, the exchange of firing was going on.
