SRINAGAR — Police here in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district arrested a non-local allegedly involved in raping and murdering a minor daughter of a brick-kiln worker hailing from Uttar Pradesh.
A police official said that one Rajinder Chouhan of Sitapur Uttar Pradesh, presently working in a brick kiln in Beerawh area of Budgam district filed a complaint at police station Beerwah stating that his five-year-old daughter was kidnapped by a man namely Sushil Kumar Chouhan son of Harso Lal resident of Sitapur Uttar Pradesh on Friday evening, who is also working at a brick kiln in Hayatpora area of Beerwah.
“Accordingly Budgam Police after filing a case started searches to trace the missing girl. However, the dead body of said girl was retrieved from nearby Nallah at Hayatpora,” said the spokesman.
“During the course of the investigation, officers learnt that the accused namely Sushil Kumar Chohan after kidnapping the girl had committed rape and murder of the said girl. Accused involved in the offence has been arrested and remains in Police custody,” he said.
“During the investigation, the dead body of the said girl was sent for post mortem and completion of other medico-legal formalities. FSL team also visited the scene of the crime which was preserved by the officers investigating the case for gathering important, physical, biological and material evidence,” he added.
Further investigation in the matter is going on,” said police a spokesman in a statement. (KNT)
