SHOPIAN — Another militant has been killed in an encounter between government forces and militants in Dairoo, Keegam area of Shopian district in southern Kashmir, taking the toll of killed militants to two.

Official sources said that on specific inputs about the presence of militants, a joint team of forces including 44 RR launched search operation in the area.

“As the joint team of forces intensified search operation towards the suspected spot, hiding militants fired upon the forces which was retaliated, triggering an encounter,” they said.

“During the exchange of fire, two militants have been killed. Both are believed to be locals belonging to HM outfit,” they added. Meanwhile, forces have launched another cordon in a nearby village Mughal Pora.

Official sources said that another cordon and search operation has been launched in Mughal Pora area by the joint team of forces which is about 1 km away from Dairoo encounter site.
